Basketball Recap: Minto Lakers vs. Non Varsity Opponent
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Susitna Valley, the Minto Lakers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 32-25 win over Non Varsity Opponent. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Minto also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Minto found their leader in underclassman Ruth Fox, who scored 16 points. Jena Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Minto's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 106-201 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minto will take on the Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Walter Northway is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the White Tigers at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. KIPP Denver Collegiate is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
