Football Recap: Biglerville Takes a Loss

Biglerville was the 17-14 winner over York Catholic when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Canners and the Fighting Irish were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Canners suffered a 15-14 defeat. The Canners were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Although Biglerville took the loss, they still got scores from Aidan Hoffman and Brayden Pearce.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least one total tackle, Hoffman stood above the rest. He rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown. Biglerville's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.6.

York Catholic found their leader in sophomore Callahan Murphy, who picked up 160 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Murphy showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 58 yards.

Biglerville's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for York Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Biglerville will head out on the road to square off against Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for York Catholic, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Littlestown at 7:00 p.m. on September 12.
