Softball Recap: Bob Jones Comes Up Short

Bob Jones had taken Florence down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Patriots lost 19-5 to the Falcons. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly 14 runs.

Maddie Gordon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Bob Jones has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 16 of their last 19 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-25 record this season. As for Florence, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-16.

Bob Jones and Florence could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 244th) will meet Austin (ranked 38th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Florence will take on West Limestone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (168 vs. 9).
