Preview: Catholic Crusaders vs. Walsingham Academy Trojans
Catholic has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Walsingham Academy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Even though Virginia Academy scored an imposing 75 points on Saturday, Catholic still came out on top. Catholic snuck past Virginia Academy with a 79-75 win. Given Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Virginia Academy is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Walsingham Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Norfolk Collegiate, falling 79-25. Walsingham Academy has not had much luck with Norfolk Collegiate recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Walsingham Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-20 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Catholic strolled past Walsingham Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 51-37. Does Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walsingham Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
