Baseball Recap: University Prep Takes a Loss

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, University Prep was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Granite Hills Cougars. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

University Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Herrera, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Baxter Andersen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

University Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. Granite Hills' victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Coming up, University Prep will face off against Mojave at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Granite Hills, they will challenge Coachella Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Coachella Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Granite Hills' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
