Basketball Recap: East Lincoln Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

East Lincoln won the last time they faced Foard and things went their way on Tuesday too. The East Lincoln Mustangs took down the Foard Tigers 56-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

East Lincoln's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Pethel, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards. Pethel is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last six games she's played. Taniyah Thomas was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 17 points and six steals.

East Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 57 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Foard's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabby Sutcliffe, who posted six points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Macie Penland, who earned three points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

East Lincoln pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Foard, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.

Looking ahead, East Lincoln will face off against North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Lincoln will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something East Lincoln surely won't give up without a fight. Foard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
