Baseball Recap: Santaluces Comes Up Short

Santaluces had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it six. They lost 13-3 to the Suncoast Chargers. The Chiefs were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Abner Garcia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That run was his first of the season.

Suncoast's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Suncoast's side, Charlie Straub looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Straub posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nic Pascocello, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Preston Kay was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces will host Boca Raton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Suncoast, they will welcome Wellington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
