Basketball Recap: Belton Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Belton entered their tilt with Wimberley on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 66-56 win over the Wimberley Texans. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Texans are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Wimberley had strong showings from Gavin Olmer, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, and Holden Crawford, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points. That's the most points Crawford has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Wortham, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points.

Belton pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Wimberley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-6.

Belton will venture away from home to challenge La Grange at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Wimberley, they will host Giddings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
