Soccer Game Preview: Gaffney vs. James F. Byrnes

Gaffney is on a three-game streak of home losses, and James F. Byrnes a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Gaffney Indians will be playing at home against the James F. Byrnes Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Things were looking good for Gaffney after they put the first goals on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Myrtle Beach who was credited with the win. The Seahawks got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Gaffney's two. While losing is never fun, Gaffney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Myrtle Beach are ranked 44th).

Gaffney's goal came courtesy of Israel Loaiza, who's now up to three this season.

James F. Byrnes came up short against Riverside last Thursday, falling 5-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as James F. Byrnes were already down 3-0.

Gaffney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12-1. As for James F. Byrnes, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1.
