Basketball Game Preview: Schuylkill Valley Panthers vs. Octorara Area Braves

The Schuylkill Valley Panthers will square off against the Octorara Area Braves at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Schuylkill Valley sitting on three straight wins and Octorara Area on six.

It was a proper cat-fight when Schuylkill Valley challenged Lehigh Valley Academy on Friday. Schuylkill Valley simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lehigh Valley Academy 68-34. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, everything went Octorara Area's way against Fleetwood on Saturday as Octorara Area made off with a 77-55 win. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Tigers are ranked 593rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Octorara Area pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Schuylkill Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
