Basketball Recap: Prescott Horvath's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mishawaka Marian over Jeffersonville

On Saturday, the Mishawaka Marian Knights ended up a good deal behind the Jeffersonville Red Devils and lost 63-46. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Red Devils are ranked 13th).

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Prescott Horvath, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points. Isiah Watts also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Jeffersonville had a senior duo take command as Tre Singleton went 7 for 10 to rack up 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Michael Cooper went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most steals Singleton has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Za'Rhon Calhoun, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Mishawaka Marian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Jeffersonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Mishawaka Marian has already played their next matchup, a 40-38 victory against Jimtown on the 11th. As for Jeffersonville, they will welcome New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Albany comes in on four and Jeffersonville on six.
