Baseball Game Preview: Annapolis Cougars vs. Romulus Eagles

The Annapolis Cougars will take on the Romulus Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Annapolis is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Crestwood on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won six in a row.

Mason Barc made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Annapolis got a big performance out of James Harris, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Harris has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gael Martinez, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Annapolis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Romulus hadn't beaten Thurston on the road since May 3, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. Romulus blew past Thurston 16-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for Romulus.

The win got Romulus back to even at 2-2. As for Annapolis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Everything went Annapolis' way against Romulus in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Annapolis made off with a 7-0 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
