Basketball Game Preview: Pflugerville Panthers vs. Pflugerville Connally Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pflugerville Panthers challenge the Pflugerville Connally Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pflugerville is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Georgetown on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pflugerville came up short against Georgetown, falling 68-44. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.

Meanwhile, Pflugerville Connally was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-31 loss at the hands of Georgetown. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1152nd, while the Eagles are ranked 54th).

Pflugerville will need focus on slowing down Hannah Howie, one of several Pflugerville Connally players who made an impact when they last played. She went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Toney, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Pflugerville dropped their record down to 12-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pflugerville Connally, their loss dropped their record down to 1-23.

Everything came up roses for Pflugerville against Pflugerville Connally in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pflugerville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
