Basketball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short

Concord was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Alhambra Bulldogs and fell 87-44. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 59-24 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Concord lost, don't look at Mateo Ferolino. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Ferolino has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Leonidas Garcia, who earned ten points.

Alhambra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Torrance Avery, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. What's more, Avery also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Vincente Taylor was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Alhambra, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.

Concord does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alhambra, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-34 win against Quarry Lane on the 18th.
