Recap: Elliot Christian Eagles vs. Venture Academy Mustangs
The Elliot Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 106-48 defeat at the hands of Venture Academy. While losing is never fun, Elliot Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1151st, while Venture Academy is ranked 159th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elliot Burton, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gaither, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Elliot Christian's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Venture Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elliot Christian will take on Stone Ridge Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Venture Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Big Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. Big Valley Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
