Baseball Recap: Sunset Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Sunset lost to Coral Reef back in March of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Barracudas. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Jacob Diamond looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on AJ Cruz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Roca, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sunset's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Coral Reef, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Looking ahead, Sunset will head out on the road to square off against Belen Jesuit at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Coral Reef, they will be playing in front of their home fans against iMater Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
