Softball Game Preview: Greenwood Rangers vs. Fort Stockton Panthers

The Greenwood Rangers will head out to face off against the Fort Stockton Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Stockton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greenwood, who comes in off a win.

Greenwood barely beat Pecos the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The Rangers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

Addison Arredondo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Arredondo was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brylee Savage, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Millie Wilkinson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

Greenwood lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fort Stockton suffered their biggest loss since February 28th on Friday. They came up short against Andrews, falling 7-1. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Fort Stockton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Greenwood, the victory got them back to even at 14-14-1.

Greenwood was able to grind out a solid win over Fort Stockton when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
