Basketball Preview: Sabino Sabercats vs. Tanque Verde Hawks
Sabino is 8-2 against the Hawks since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Sabino Sabercats' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Tanque Verde Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Sabino strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 61-46.
Sabino found their leader in underclassman Jayda Haley, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. Haley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Haley Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Tanque Verde beat the Red Wolves 38-30 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tanque Verde.
Sabino has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. As for Tanque Verde, they pushed their record up to 10-12 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Sabino against the Hawks when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 62-26 victory. With Sabino ahead 37-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
