Volleyball Recap: Wauwatosa East Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Menomonee Falls

Wauwatosa East faced Menomonee Falls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Red Raiders came up short against the Phoenix, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since October 8, 2024.

Wauwatosa East was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-22, 25-11.

Sylvia Flood paced Wauwatosa East's offense, picking up ten kills. Flood got some help from Evelynn Lasse and her 14 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Menomonee Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cassie Bruns, who had 18 digs and four assists. Bruns has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Wauwatosa East and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for Menomonee Falls, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Wauwatosa East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Homestead on the 4th. As for Menomonee Falls, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against West Allis Hale on the 6th.
