Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Steubenville's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

If Weir wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Steubenville, they should've done a better job of containing Nylah McShan. The Steubenville Big Red put the hurt on the Weir Red Riders with a sharp 75-50 win on Thursday thanks in part to McShan, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was her 14th in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Lucy Jo Saccoccia, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points and three steals. Those ten points gave her a new career-high.

Steubenville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Weir, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steubenville will venture away from home to square off against Carrollton at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Steubenville will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Weir, they will head out on the road to challenge Bellaire at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
