Soccer Game Preview: Richland vs. Denton

The Richland Royals will square off against the Denton Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richland is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Richland is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Argyle on Thursday. The Royals fell 2-0 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Argyle are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Denton's matchup on Thursday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They blew past Birdville 4-1. Considering Denton have won four contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Birdville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Stephen Hayibor (2), Torben Richter, and Carlos Ramirez.

Denton's victory bumped their record up to 7-2-2. As for Richland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Richland beat Denton by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2025, winning 1-0. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
