Football Recap: Compton Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Compton's offense. They had to suffer through a 31-0 loss at the hands of the Lakewood Lancers. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Tarbabes, who until this game were averaging 13 points allowed.

Ronnie Mixon threw for 36 yards. Micah Hawkins was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards. On the ground, Nate Willard rushed for 65 yards.

It was another big night for Kade Casillas, who threw for 255 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 70 yards on only six carries for Lakewood.

Compton's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Lakewood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Compton is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Cabrillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tarbabes will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Long Beach Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jackrabbits will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
