Volleyball Recap: Owen Valley Comes Up Short

Owen Valley was the 2-1 winner over Monrovia when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs on Wednesday.

While Owen Valley ultimately came up short, they really made Monrovia work, particularly in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 27-29, 25-14, 26-24.

Abree Wells paced Owen Valley's offense, picking up 14 kills. Wells got some help from Addy Applegate and her 25 assists. Aaliyah White controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Ciara Elliott had a dynamite game For Monrovia., getting 14 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Elliott has posted since back in October of 2024.

Owen Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Monrovia, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Owen Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Cascade on the 21st. As for Monrovia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Eastern Greene on the 21st.
