Basketball Recap: Grasso Tech Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Grasso Tech and Old Lyme squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Grasso Tech had to settle for second. They fell to the Old Lyme Wildcats 77-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (63), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zamir 'Peanut' Foy, who went 6-for-10 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Foy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Jordan Washington was another key player, shooting 64% from the field to rack up 18 points.

Grasso Tech's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.3 points over those games. As for Old Lyme, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-4.

Grasso Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Old Lyme, they will take on Shepaug Valley on Saturday. Shepaug Valley will roll in looking for their 27th straight win, something Old Lyme surely won't give up without a fight.
