Basketball Recap: St. Mary Academy-Bay View Falls Short Against Ranked Barrington

On Thursday, St. Mary Academy-Bay View faced Barrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Mary Academy-Bay View Bengals took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barrington Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-33 back in January.

Barrington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Martin, who posted seven points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Riley Graveline, who went 6-for-14 en route to 17 points and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Mary Academy-Bay View and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Barrington, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

St. Mary Academy-Bay View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-40 victory against Shea on the 19th. As for Barrington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 30-28 win against La Salle Academy on the 21st.
