Soccer Game Preview: Commerce vs. Providence Christian Academy

The Commerce Tigers will challenge the Providence Christian Academy Storm at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Commerce's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Commerce took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy a 1-0 shutout. Olivia Hollon had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Commerce.

Despite a strong season so far, Providence Christian Academy has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens Academy on Thursday. Considering the last time Providence Christian Academy couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

Commerce's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for Providence Christian Academy, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.
