            Baseball Recap: Ash Grove Pirates vs. Sarcoxie Bears        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Conway, Ash Grove was happy to have turned things around  on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Sarcoxie Bears with a sharp  12-2 victory. The  win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.

 Kyler Reece made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   two  hits. Reece was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and one  triple. Those  three  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Ty Messley and  Jaden Shorter did most of the damage at the plate:  Messley  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI, while  Shorter  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.  Alex Acosta was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and two  doubles.
 Ash Grove was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .448. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
Ash Grove pushed their record up to 7-3 with the  victory, which was their third straight  at home. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sarcoxie,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-9.
 Coming up, Ash Grove will venture away from home to  face off against New Heights Christian Academy  at 1:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three matchups. As for Sarcoxie, they will take on Spokane at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
