Baseball Game Preview: Omaha South Packers vs. South Sioux City Cardinals

The Omaha South Packers will venture away from home to take on the South Sioux City Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Omaha South is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Papillion-LaVista just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Monarchs, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for South Sioux City's offense. They lost 10-0 to Omaha Central on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Omaha South's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for South Sioux City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Omaha South has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Sioux City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Omaha South took their win against South Sioux City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Packers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
