Baseball Game Preview: East Grand Forks Green Wave vs. Bemidji Lumberjacks

The East Grand Forks Green Wave will head out on the road to challenge the Bemidji Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. East Grand Forks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

East Grand Forks blew Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton got their revenge. The Green Wave fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Green Wave have suffered since May 7, 2024.

East Grand Forks saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Hunter Varnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Bemidji and Duluth East had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Kobe Brown was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stonewall Gessner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Bemidji's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Grand Forks, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

Bemidji's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Grand Forks hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317.
