Baseball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Murrieta Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks 5-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Carson Kephart looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Murrieta Mesa: the team is 7-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Quintin Diaz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Murrieta Mesa's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-5. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Murrieta Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Nighthawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
