Soccer Game Preview: Amundsen vs. Whitney Young

The Amundsen Vikings will face off against the Whitney Young Dolphins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Amundsen will be strutting in after a win while Whitney Young will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Amundsen got the win against Taft by a conclusive 5-2. Considering Amundsen have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Taft with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Raisa Yuille (3), Ellie Riddle, and Olivia Chier.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Whitney Young's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 5-0 to New Trier. While losing is never fun, Whitney Young can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 87th, while New Trier are ranked second).

Amundsen pushed their record up to 8-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three contests. As for Whitney Young, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.
