Gwynn Park comes up short despite Nala Abraham's dominant performance

If the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets were feeling good off their 59-14 takedown of College Park Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gwynn Park ended up on the wrong side of a rough 64-40 walloping at the hands of Osbourn Park on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gwynn Park in their matchups with Osbourn Park: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Gwynn Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nala Abraham. Despite the final result, she scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Robyn Carpenter, who scored seven points.

Osbourn Park's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samia Snead, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyarah Rainey, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.

Gwynn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Osbourn Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gwynn Park will stay at home for another game and welcome Central at 7:15 p.m. on January 5th. Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Gwynn Park is ranked 83rd). As for Osbourn Park, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Osbourn at 6:00 p.m. Osbourn is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
