LOUISVILLE, Ky. - St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 17 points, drop to eight before the final whistle blew on a 24-16 victory over St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio).

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Bj Nagle to Luke Hayden in the second quarter, the Tigers led 21-7 at the half.

St. Xavier saw its 14-point halftime lead decrease to eight entering the fourth.

The Louisville school entered the contest giving up 23.8 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Bombers well above their season average of 1.4 points scored per game.



St. Xavier avenged last year's 23-9 loss to St. Xavier with the victory.

The loss comes after St. Xavier defeated St. Ignatius 13-10 last week.
