Basketball Recap: Lucy Beckham Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lucy Beckham, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-29 victory over the Cane Bay Cobras on Monday. Given the Bengals' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Cobras are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lucy Beckham found their leader in sophomore Vivian Watts, who posted 12 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Watts a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Logan Collins, who scored four points and six steals.

The win got Lucy Beckham back to even at 7-7. As for Cane Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Lucy Beckham will head out to take on Wando at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cane Bay, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Goose Creek at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
