Football Game Preview: Grand Junction Tigers vs. Sand Creek Scorpions + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Matthais Martinez-Santana and Ethan Mangrum are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Grand Junction Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Sand Creek Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Grand Junction sitting on four straight wins and Sand Creek on nine.

On Friday, Grand Junction was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheyenne Mountain, taking the game 43-35.

Paxton Webber went supernova, picking up 133 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 133 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Jed Kleager did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 97 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek got the win against Centaurus on Friday by a conclusive 60-38. The Scorpions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Grand Junction better keep an eye on Achilles Evans. He was instrumental in Sand Creek's win, rushing for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Sand Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 620 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 433 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Grand Junction's record now sits at 7-2. As for Sand Creek, their record is now 9-0.

Everything came up roses for Grand Junction against Sand Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 34-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
