Softball Recap: Riverton Parke Comes Up Short

Riverton Parke dropped their record down to 22-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-1 to the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Patriots' pitcher proved too tough.

Riverton Parke saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Ugoletti, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Terre Haute North Vigo, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-5. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Terre Haute North Vigo's side, Kyleigh Walker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Terre Haute North Vigo let Addison Millington and Kenzie Zigler run wild. Millington went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Zigler went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Millington a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kara Salmon, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Riverton Parke wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-1 win against Attica on the 27th. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-0 defeat against Mooresville on the 23rd.
