Baseball Game Preview: Cayuga Wildcats vs. Grapeland Sandies

The Cayuga Wildcats will take on the Grapeland Sandies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Cayuga's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Avalon as Cayuga made off with a 6-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Grayson Walker was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Levi McMahon, who scored three runs and stole Two bases.

Meanwhile, Grapeland had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Oakwood with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Sandies in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Grapeland let Gabe Deleon and Edy Lopez run wild. Deleon scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 4-for-4, while Lopez went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance gave Deleon a new career-high in hits. Diego Fajardo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Cayuga's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grapeland, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went Cayuga's way against Grapeland in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, as Cayuga made off with a 13-4 win. Will Cayuga repeat their success, or does Grapeland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
