Softball Recap: The First Academy Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

The First Academy won the last time they faced Mount Dora Christian Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Royals put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Isabella Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brown was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Elissa Moore was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The First Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.

The First Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 loss against Apopka on the 15th. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-4 defeat against Webster Schroeder on the 18th.
