Baseball Recap: Carmichaels Find Success

Carmichaels's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Avella Eagles. The Mighty Mikes haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Scottie Maskil made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Maskil wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Ankrom, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Ankrom has posted since back in March. Brayden Andrews was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Carmichaels' victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Avella, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-6.

Carmichaels will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
