West Albany fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Bend on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lava Bears by a score of 11-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring game to date.

Gabriella Young 2027 spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Mikayla Chaffins 2026 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-5. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season.

West Albany's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Bend, their record now sits at 3-6-1.

West Albany didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-4 defeat against Sandy on the 9th. As for Bend, they have also already played their next match, a 14-9 win against Caldera on the 15th.
