Basketball Game Preview: Mapleton Sailors vs. Alsea Wolverines

Mapleton and Alsea are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Mapleton Sailors will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Alsea Wolverines at 5:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Mapleton didn't have quite enough to beat Eddyville and fell 44-41.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alsea). They managed a 66-62 victory over Siletz Valley on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their 28-point performance the game before.

Mapleton's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Alsea, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

Everything came up roses for Mapleton against Alsea when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 72-31 victory. Will Mapleton repeat their success, or does Alsea have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
