Softball Game Preview: Mitchell Kernels vs. Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles

The Mitchell Kernels will head out on the road to take on the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aberdeen Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mitchell, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Mitchell earned a 9-4 win over Pierre T.F. Riggs. The Kernels haven't had any issues with the Governors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Rylee Jennings made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Jennings was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Matteah Graves was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Delaney Linke was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Yankton, falling 17-2.

Aberdeen Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Keller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Mitchell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Aberdeen Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Mitchell's way against Aberdeen Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Mitchell made off with a 14-7 victory. Will the Kernels repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
