Softball Recap: River View Snaps 12-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

River View dropped their record down to 20-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 28-5 to Pe Ell/Willapa Valley. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this contest were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.

Reyna Caballero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Bree Stacy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by nine runs or more this season.

On Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's side, Addison Merkel was a standout: she got on base in 13 of her four plate appearances with two runs. The dominant performance also gave Merkel a new career-high in hits (11). Another player making a difference was Jillian Hodel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one double.

River View has already played their next game (against Coupeville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-8 loss against Adna on the 24th.
