Future Mountaineer helped lead Spring Valley to final No. 1 state ranking.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Wyatt Milum of Spring Valley (Huntington) is the 2020 MaxPreps West Virginia High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound senior offensive lineman helped lead the Timberwolves to a 5-2 record (one loss was via forfeit) and the final No. 1 state ranking.

Milum earned the Stydahar Award, which recognizes West Virginia's best interior lineman. According to multiple reports, he didn't allow a sack in three seasons as a starter in the program.

247Sports rates Milum the No. 108 overall prospect in the Class of 2021. Before signing with West Virginia in December, he earned offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State among others.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released Jan. 29.
