Basketball Recap: Banneker Comes Up Short

Banneker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 93-50 loss at the hands of the Towers Titans. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2016.

Cornelius Winfrey was nothing short of spectacular for Towers: he went 9 of 17 en route to 22 points and seven steals. That's the most points Winfrey has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Kelly, who posted 12 points and seven steals.

Banneker's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Towers, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Banneker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-31 win against Lovejoy on the 24th. As for Towers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-52 victory against Jasper County on the 24th.
