Baseball Recap: New Diana Snags 18th Victory in Last 19 Games

New Diana extended their postseason success on Thursday against Paradise. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 7-0 shutout. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matchups.

Not much got past Remi Rountree, who gave up just two hits to keep Paradise off the board.

At the plate, Landon Melton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Justice Hankins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

New Diana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise only posted a batting average of .130.

New Diana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Paradise, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-9-2.

New Diana will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
