Baseball Game Preview: Central Dauphin Rams vs. Cumberland Valley Eagles

The Central Dauphin Rams will face off against the Cumberland Valley Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Central Dauphin nor Cumberland Valley posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central Dauphin's offense. They fell just short of Mechanicsburg by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Shrader was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Central Dauphin is 6-2 when Shrader allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Cumberland Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Altoona on Tuesday and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.

Caden Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Cumberland Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah LaPila, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Cumberland Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Central Dauphin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Central Dauphin beat Cumberland Valley 4-0 in their previous matchup on April 6th. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
