The Union County Braves are taking a road trip to challenge the Murray Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Union County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Union County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Russell County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Braves have posted since March 21st.

Daylee Shelton looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aspen Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Hargrove, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Murray took on Mayfield two weeks ago. The Tigers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 9-5. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Shia McNutt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Jenna Stone was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Maylen Darnell also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Murray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Murray's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Union County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Union County skirted past Murray 9-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
