Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sylva Bay Academy

Sylva Bay Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 52-46 victory over the Kemper Academy Rams. This was a revenge game for the Saints: when they faced off against the Rams back in November of 2024, they had to take a 48-27 defeat.

Sylva Bay Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Livy Shumock out in front who posted eight points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Shumock a new career-high in boards. Sydney Poole was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Sylva Bay Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Sylva Bay Academy's record is now 11-9. As for Kemper Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Sylva Bay Academy will square off against Newton County Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kemper Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
