Softball Preview: Briarcrest Christian Saints vs. Evangelical Christian Eagles
The Briarcrest Christian Saints are taking a road trip to challenge the Evangelical Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Briarcrest Christian turned things around against Bartlett on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Panthers 4-2.
Ellen Adair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Briarcrest Christian's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Regina McIntosh, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave McIntosh a new career-high. Hadleigh Kimbrough also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Briarcrest Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted a batting average of .130.
Meanwhile, Evangelical Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over St. George's on Friday.
Natalie Regel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Julianna Lewis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Briarcrest Christian's record is now 3-13. As for Evangelical Christian, their record now sits at 5-9.
